Fine Arts

Since 1905 when the first music instructor was hired by the Board of Education, Eaton Rapids Public schools has had a highly successful Fine Arts program. 

 

In a time when districts are cutting programs, our students receive weekly music and visual arts instruction beginning in Kindergarten.  At Greyhound Intermediate, students have the ability to participate in band, choir, drama and art classes on a daily basis.  Even more opportunities are available to High School students including several instrumental and vocal music classes, drama classes, and traditional, digital, photographic and industrial art classes.  Our bands and choirs regularly receive the highest marks at festivals and competitions, our drama students produce very high quality plays and musicals, our visual arts students publish their own web site and magazine, and our industrial arts students use their creativity to both design and manufacture a wide variety of objects.

 

Studies show that exposure to music and arts instruction boosts children’s academic development and confidence, both in school and beyond.  The many, varied arts offerings at Eaton Rapids Public Schools help our children achieve success that lasts a lifetime.
